OUR TEAMS

SENIOR MEN

Richmond Union has 4 senior men's sides suiting a range of abilities; two turf sides that play quality 2 day turf cricket (B-/F Grade Turf)  and two synthetic Limited Over Cricket (LOC) sides more suited to social cricketers. All men's cricket is played in the Eastern Cricket Association (ECA) on a Saturday afternoon. Turf sides play Home games at Citizens Park on Saturday's, most games are two day (80 overs) but there's a couple of one games (40 overs). Turf Players have attained a reasonable standard of cricket and should attend training at least once a week. LOC games are played at Burnley Oval on Saturday afternoons and suited to 'weekend warriors' looking for a social days cricket.

SENIOR WOMEN

The club has two women's cricket sides in the Cricket Southern Bayside association. The 1st's play home games on Sundays at Citizens Park and the 2nd's on Sundays at Burnley Oval. Training is on Tuesdays and Thursday at Citizens park. Women have exclusive use of the 3rd net in a training session. The women's sides are competitive but also very social, so new players to the game are most welcome. We have a senior women's coach, Trevor Forrest, to grow the skills of players of all levels. Junior girls may play in these sides as long as they have parental permission and meet the associations age requirements.

OVER 60'S / VETERANS

The Veterans team is an under 60's league that plays one day (40 overs) Turf cricket at Citizens Park on a Sunday afternoon. Away games are often up country, sometimes are far as Benalla and Geelong. Many of our team are accomplished players and some have played senior cricket in the past at the club. New players are welcome. This is quite a competitive team!

JUNIOR CRICKET

Being the largest Junior club within the Eastern Cricket Association (ECA) we have a focus on making sure kids can play a variety of levels of cricket to suit their skills. In the junior age groups, we currently have a total of 21 teams across the girls competition, and the mixed competition which is predominantly boys, but does have some girls playing as well. Training nights are dependent upon the age group, but are held at the cricket nets at Kevin Bartlett Reserve. Our Junior games are scheduled as per below:-

  • Girls Wednesday nights

  • Mixed U18, Mixed U16, and Mixed U14s on Friday nights

  • Mixed U12s Saturday mornings

  • Mixed U10s & Mixed U9s Sunday mornings.

We often get new players who require the extra guidance to assist them to feel comfortable with playing games each week. At the same time, we also have many elite players who participate not only in A grade teams, but who get selected for VMCU representative teams or other representative formats.
